The app reads what is on offer and shows it. Take one of the four recommendations, or go through the full table. Tick the box and you will not be asked again.

The download joins the queue and shows progress, speed and time remaining. Video and audio are muxed together when they arrive separately. Add more links while it works.

The format picker
Sites hand out long, badly sorted format lists — streaming formats often declare no file size at all. The app estimates those from bitrate and duration, so the column is never simply blank, and sorts the rest into a table you can filter down to video, audio or both.
Tick the box once and the question stops being asked; the choice is stored and applies to everything that follows.
What it does
Paste into the field, drag a link onto the window, hand one over from the Dock, or share from another app. Whichever route a link takes, the same code decides whether it is a collection and whether you already have it — so the app behaves the same way every time.
Copy a link, come back to the window, and a banner offers to add it. It is an offer, not a download — nothing starts on its own. There is no polling in the background, which on macOS is conspicuous behaviour and not something a downloader needs.
The share extension takes the link, hands it to the app and disappears again. No window of its own, no second place to configure.

Best quality, 1080p MP4, audio only, smallest file — enough for most days. When it is not, the full list is there, sortable and filterable by video, audio or both. Sizes are estimated for streaming formats that do not declare one, so the column is never simply blank.
Tick “use this choice from now on without asking” and the picker steps aside. The preset is stored locally and applies to everything that follows, until you change it.
The queue runs three at a time by default and goes up to eight. It also says out loud what download managers usually hide: more at once is not automatically faster, because the bandwidth is divided and some sites throttle a client that opens too many connections.
Streaming formats only report an estimated total, and that estimate jumps — in one real run between 52 MB and 105 MB within seconds. Rather than let the bar slide back, it uses the exact byte count when there is one, the fragment ratio when there is not, and the estimate only as a last resort.
A failed download reports as one of eleven named cases — geo-blocked, login required, site unsupported, copy-protected, rate-limited, engine out of date — each with a suggestion. Where retrying cannot help, no retry button is offered, because it would be a lie.
Finished downloads collect in a searchable window with size, format and date. Reveal one in Finder, or download it again with the same settings.
Video sites change constantly, and an out-of-date extractor is the most common reason a download stops working. The About window shows how old the bundled yt-dlp is and updates it on request. The app itself updates through Sparkle.
Quitting terminates every child process it started, in order, without waiting for a timeout to expire. If the app is ever killed outright, the next launch cleans up what was orphaned — and leaves any yt-dlp you started yourself in a terminal alone.
Where it stops
A downloader that promises everything is either lying or about to get you into trouble. Three things this one will not do, stated plainly so you can decide before you install it.
No Widevine, no FairPlay, no PlayReady, no keys of any kind. Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video are outside what this app does, and a protected stream is reported as such rather than worked around.
Nothing is lifted out of Safari or Chrome to pass as your session. Where a site wants a login, the app says so instead of impersonating you.
The file lands in your folder in the format you picked. Playing and editing it is someone else's job — the app does one thing.
When something does fail, it fails by name: geo-blocked, login required, site unsupported, copy-protected, rate-limited, out of disk space, engine out of date — one of eleven cases, each with a suggestion. Where a retry cannot help, no retry button appears.
